¡Hola Parents and Students!
Welcome to Spanish! My name is Señora Dayley and I am going to be your student's Spanish teacher this year at Williamsport High School. I am looking forward to a very exciting and successful year. My goal for students is to introduce them to the Spanish language - a language that is becoming more and more important in our daily lives, both world-wide and here in Washington County - and foster an excitement and enthusiasm for the language and culture that comes along with it.
A few important things parents and students should note about taking Spanish:
1. Our Spanish course is cumulative. It constantly builds and elaborates upon prior knowledge. If the initial foundations of the language skills aren't strong, it may lead to difficulties in forward progress when things become more complex. So study that vocabulary regularly, utilize the extra online resources, AND complete the nightly homework!
2. Yes, we will have homework about 4-5 nights a week. It rarely takes more than 10 minutes, but further practice outside of the classroom is essential to the language development.
3. If you start to fall behind, please take responsibility and seek the help that you need. I am available Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday afternoons as well as mornings before school starts at 8:00, however it will be much appreciated to schedule these times in advance. Additionally, there are many peer tutors available to help out after school if that's more up your alley.
4. Lastly, we will have a lot of fun learning new things daily in class, but please make sure you come to class prepared, leave your ego at the door, and always work hard to be respectful to myself, our classroom, and your fellow classmates.
Parents and students, if you ever have any questions, comments, or concerns please feel free to contact me via school phone or email by checking out the "Contact Me" page.
Let's have a fantastic year!
